What is Anathema?

Anathema is an online anthology whose intent is to challenge the writer and reader to view the world from a perspective that is contrary to his or her own, with the hope of leading to a greater understanding of those who actually hold that contrary viewpoint.  All stories presented in Anathema are written sympathetically from this contrary viewpoint.  For example, a member of the LDS church might write a story from the view of an atheist; a peacenik might write from the perspective of the Spartans; a human might write from the perspective of an Orc (or a Flemergjmazik– whatever that might be), and so on.  The possibilities are endless.

Because RedJack is all about speculative fiction, most of the stories are in that vein, from the humorous to the fantastic to the brooding to the hyperreal to the plainly bizarre, the stories are a testament to the truth of one particular aphorism: that variety is the spice of life.  We hope you like it hot.

We also hope that the stories presented here inspire you to challenge yourself to think beyond the papier mache shells that we have constructed around each other, and look for what lies inside.
